O Lord, you are the potter and we are the clay... We are all the work of your hand.
Lent 2018 at St. Michael's
"Rest Stops" on the Journey of Faith The prayer stations pictured below will be located around the church during Lent. You are invited to visit the stations before or after service, or during the distribution of communion, and participate by following the directions provided. As the People of God often paused along the way to build an altar, or offer a prayer of thanksgiving or for guidance, so we offer these Rest Stops as we undertake the Lenten journey once more.
Sunday Evening Lenten Series: Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Published by the Society of St. John the Evangelist, Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John is an opportunity “…to reflect on the person of Jesus, his mission and his message.” A journaling notebook allows each participant to reflect and write about their own experiences of Jesus, while a short daily video emailed to each subscriber shares the wisdom of the Brothers of SSJE regarding the scripture verses for each day. Each chapter of the notebook provides six days’ worth of space for individual reflection; on the Seventh Day the participants gather to share a meal and their individual experiences with one another.
Our “Seventh Day Meetings” at St. Michael’s will take place in the InGathering Space, with soup and bread and reflective conversation. (Please Note: The first meeting will be on February 11th, the Sunday before Ash Wednesday, to begin the process and introduce the structure of the program.)
