Lenten Series: Walking the Way of Jesus, the Way of Love Sunday evenings in Lent (March 10-April 14), 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Before it was anything else, Lent was the final season of preparation for baptism, for those who were not yet Christians. Over the centuries we’ve sometimes forgotten that, and turned Lent into a self-improvement program or a rationale for additional busyness. But this year, we have a chance to remember why we do what we do. We have an opportunity to tell the story of our faith, and to become the story we tell.
This year we have a number of children at St. Michael’s who will be baptized at Easter. As they and their families prepare for baptism, the entire St. Michael’s family is invited to participate in that preparation with them. Our Lenten series this year will meet on Sunday evenings at 5:30, starting with a simple meal (soup and bread) and continuing with Bible Study using table group guided conversations. In those conversations we will be looking at the Lenten Gospels as Jesus’ invitation to discipleship. What does it mean for us to “take up our cross, and follow” Christ? Although the baptismal candidates and families will be at the center of this season of “getting ready”, everyone in the St. Michael’s household is invited and encouraged to take part.
Please plan to be with us on Sunday evenings (March 10-April 14) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the InGathering Space. Nursery care (Infants to 3 years) will be available.
