Youth Group is for all kids entering the 6th grade to 12th grade, i.e. must be at least 12 years of age. St. Michael's youth group is Christ centered and is a place where we learn how to live out our Baptismal Covenant in the world as we seek to see the Holy Trinity at work in our everyday lives. We strive do this through fellowship and well-balanced fun, learning, and service. Youth Group is an opportunity to grow in faith as we learn to think theologically and take our faith into the world.
At this time, our first meeting will be Sunday, October 3rd, 2021 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. We will then begin meeting every Sunday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., unless there is a special event that requires a different meeting day/times or if the group decides to not meet during long school breaks. We won't meet on any Sunday that coincides with a holiday, e.g. Mother's Day. Youth group will break for summer. Any changes to our regular meeting day/time will be announced in the monthly missal, weekly email missal, direct email to youth group members, and/or verbal announcement during service as appropriate.
Youth Group will meet at St. Michael's the majority of the time. We will, however, have service projects and "field trip fun events" that will take us off campus which will be announced. As much as possible, we will be meeting outside to decrease COVID-19 transmission risk.
We are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation, particularly the Delta variant, closely. Therefore, plans for the fall of 2021 and 2022 may change. We will strive to keep everyone updated as quickly as possible when changes occur.
Masks are required if we are meeting indoors or traveling off campus until further notice. All current mentors are vaccinated for COVID-19 and any future mentors will be required to be vaccinated as well. All youth attending are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated.
Mentors for the 2021 to 2022 year are: Deacon Laura Blazek (lead mentor), Melissa Gray, and James Cassidy.
Contact Deacon Laura Blazek by email or text with questions or concerns.
St. Michael’s Youth Group
Rule of Life
We are a community of daily worship and prayer.
Out of our worship and communion with God,
we strive to respect the uniqueness of each individual.
Respect each other. Accept us as we are.
Respect the ideas, wants and needs,
likes and dislikes of others in the group
Don’t interrupt each other. One person talks at a time.
Don’t tell if I say, “Don’t tell.”
Only share what we feel comfortable sharing
We do not put one another down.
Respect each other’s opinion
Don’t speak of each other in a condescending way
Respect others by not engaging in verbal, sexual or physical abuse
Instead, we are willing to level with one another in love, honoring one another with honesty and respect when we have a problem with another individual
Whatever we do, we do out of love for God, self and one another.
We are in life together.
We interact with each other, not our technology.
Outside our space we will be on our best behavior
We will treat each other equally and not exclude anyone from conversation, hugs, or other types of interaction both inside and outside our space
Both inside and outside our space we will treat each other with common courtesy
Therefore, we are willing to give all we are to one another
and with God's help, to offer more.
In everything we do, we seek to be open to the Holy Spirit.
